The Science of Totala™
We have conducted significant testing to demonstrate the bioactivity of Totala™. Early on numerous animal studies demonstrated that very low dosages of Totala™ added to their drinking water could have significant benefits on animals. For example, during a 7 week study on 190 chickens paired comparison study and using only water as a control, chickens drinking fortified water with Totala™ displayed statistically significant improvement in mortality rate, increase in dressed body weight, and increase in breast and thigh circumference. The company has accumulated numerous additional studies on baby pigs, goats, turkeys, and horses. Currently there are a number of ongoing studies being sponsored.
Subsequently Totala™ was found to have skin exfoliation quality. This was a surprising finding due to the fact that despite the pH of the ingredient below relatively low (pH ~3.0), it is non-irritating to eye or oral mucosa and therefore does not exert skin exfoliation though conventional pathways of irritation such as alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA’s) or retinoic acid (Retin A®). In addition, Totala™ was tested in-vitro using skin cells (human fibroblast cells) and found to stimulate the production of collogen and also retard collagen digestion enzymes (collagenase). These findings eventually lead to much discovery on Totala™ for skin care applications and facilitated BioKool’s eventual relationship with one of the fastest growing personal care companies.
